Sombrero Spread

2 lbs. lean ground meat
1/2 bottle hot catsup
1 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, chopped
1/2 to 3/4 cup picante sauce or salsa
1 large can fat free refried beans (w/green chilies)
1/2 cup green olives
2 tbl chili powder
1/2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp thyme
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp cumin
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 cup grated Monterrey Jack cheese

Cook ground meat, hot catsup, 1/2 cup onions, garlic, picante/salsa sauce, chili powder, basil, thyme, oregano, and cumin in skillet. Cook slowly, stirring until meat is done.

Add refried beans, stirring and mixing well. Cover top of mixture with grated cheese. On top of cheese in center, place chopped green olives and 1/2 cup onions as garnish.

The recipe can be made spicier by adding chopped jalapeno peppers into the refried beans. Using salsa will make a thinner consistency of the spread for dipping as well as more spice.

Serve with warm tortilla chips or corn chips. A great party favorite! And even better the day after.
